Announcing a new album from Flaubert’s Not-So-Dirty Rats:
Electric Flaubieland!
…a collection of psychedelic love songs and spiritual ballads
Flaubert and the Dirty Rats have been working on a group of soulful songs about the inner search, for a change.
After he recorded this, Flaubert was told the Alhambra literally means “Red Fortress.”
“We’re a blues band,” he replied. “Duh.”
Blue Alhambra There is cool, cool water in the well In the heat of the day You will need this There is shade in the bottom of the well You will need this too You will need this Let me comfort you For the path is strewn with stones Let me comfort you For the sky is filled with ravens And the earth with bones For the way is hard In the heat of the day And the sun is high As you search for the unknown way To the blue Alhambra The heavenly stream To the blue Alhambra The mystical dream Where the water flows deep in the heart Where the water flows deep in your heart Let the water of truth Wash over your face I bring you relief A portion of Grace. Walk straight ahead Do not be betrayed by confusion Eyes fixed on the horizon And blind to illusion For the way is hard In the heat of the day And the sun is high As you search for the nameless way To the blue Alhambra The heavenly stream To the blue Alhambra The mystical dream Where the water flows deep in the heart Where the water flows deep in your heart Lee van Laer: Vocals, mandolins, guitars, synthesizers & and percussion John Marcell: Electric guitar All music and lyrics copyright 2026 by Lee van Laer
