Deserted City of My Soul

A blues piece

This song was recorded pretty much in the moment. No plan; it was all written emerging from the very first notes I played when I picked up the bass and invented a riff to begin the song. It came out; I went with it. Everything followed naturally from there.

The lyrics are also spontaneous. I just made ‘em up on the spot and wrote them down later.

Sometimes the best stuff works out that way.

Deserted City of My Soul

If I met the devil I would sell him my soul

And I'd take all the money and bury it down in a hole

And I would do bad things but I wouldn't even care

‘Cause you know, it's a fact I got the money down there

I got the money down there

I got the money down there

I got the money down there

I got some money down there

And if I met an angel and he offered me gold

I would say, hand it over baby, and I’ll do as I’m told

And I would do good deeds because I'm loaded with cash

And you know that the point is to add to the stash

I want a big pile of money

I want a big pile of cash

I want a big pile of money

So just hand me the cash

I’m gonna bury that money deep down in a hole

In the deserted city of my soul

That’s right

And that’s where you’ll find me, yes that’s where you’ll find me

In the deserted city of my soul x2

Well if I met the devil I would say all right

Just pay me in hard cash and you can take me home tonight

And if I met an angel and he asked me to pray

You know that I’d tell him it all depends on the pay

It’s just one more transaction here

In the deserted

City

Of my soul
