The three types of substances that function for the development of sensation and feeling in being arise not just from physical food formed by earthly influences, but also from concentrated materials formed by astral or planetary influences.
Physical food only forms the physical body which is able to sense and feel.
The nature of the three forces as mentioned by Gurdjieff can be explained thus:
Oonastralnian arisings. The physical body. Receiving influences from the physical planet. Earthbound, its nature defines the limits of its spiritual development.
Okhtastralnian arisings The body of sensation. This corresponds to the astral body (don't confuse the term with the fact that the word "astral" occurs in the first type of crystallization.) This receives and is fundamentally composed of an inflow of solar emanations and forces, which it concentrates, and is food for the growth of the second being-body.
Polormedekhtic arisings. The body of feeling. This is also called the mental body, which is again, perhaps, confusing, but Love is not a higher, but the highest form of intelligence above everything else that it is. This puts a human being under the influence of the inflow of cosmological crystallizations, food for the third being-body.
