Its condition may seem remarkable, but documents in the City of Heaven are generally pristine. Agents of the Council of Expressions have direct access to all of time, and collect only the very best manuscripts.

Nothing in the City of Heaven—or the Library—is affected by time. Once a document makes its way there it exists throughout eternity in exactly the same condition it was in when it arrived.

Hotepsekhemy’s library is rumored to have had the only copy of the master table that mapped the full set of correlations between the Spiritual and Natural table of the elements.

From ancient times, it is said, it was known among men that there was a periodic table of the elements not just of earth, but also of heaven.

The elements of earth are of matter, physical materials. But the elements of heaven, it is said, are the qualities of the soul, both human, angelic, and demonic. They are arranged according to the same types of laws as the physical elements; but instead of combining to form matter, things, they form character.

Personhood.

Consciousness.
