Gravitas—Element 19

Gravitas is the spiritual element corresponding to ordinary gravity in the natural created universe.

The two are at the same time both very different and nearly identical. Gravitas is, like ordinary gravity, an invisible element whose presence can only be detected by… well, its presence. Angels and Daemons have special sensory organs composed of very fine “hairs” (although they are not actual hairs at all, but rather exquisitely sensitive tendrils of Divine Grace) that are evenly distributed throughout their phenomenological, astral and solar bodies. These tendrils form a neural network connecting the metaphysical tissues of the three angelic bodies; and that network is capable of sensing gravitas.

Angels and Daemons, along with other creatures of the metaphysical worlds and the kingdom of heaven, slowly absorb the element gravitas according to how balanced the tissues of their three being-bodies develop in connection with one another. The deeper the connective tissue between the three bodies, the more deeply gravitas is absorbed; and as it is absorbed it slowly concentrates, adding to the Being of the Angel or Daemon in question. Typically this process takes billions of years, and then only in cases of truly integrated harmonious development, such that the oldest of the Archangels and Archdaemons have the most gravitas. It is generally agreed that Gabrielle and Beelzebub are among the foremost in the concentration of this element.
